Pyne, T.
Tarapada Pyne served for more than 37 yr in the Defence Services (Indian Air Force) and in large process plants and the metal industries in the fields of asset management, reliability management, operational/manufacturing excellence, machinery diagnostics (condition monitoring, noise and vibration, thermal imaging, oil analysis, acoustics emissions and NDTs), rotary equipment, energy management, technical training and skills development. Dr. Pyne has delivered keynotes and presentations to numerous professional bodies as a Life Fellow and member, and has been published in more than 18 publications. He has also guided BTech and MTech students for industrial projects/dissertations in the fields of operation and maintenance of critical assets in steel, chemical, petrochemical, refinery, metals, etc. Dr. Pyne is a Fellow and mechanical engineer from the Institution of Engineers (India), in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. He earned his post-graduate degree (mechanical) in plant engineering and management at Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) in Hyderabad, and his PhD in reliability and knowledge management at the Birla Institute of Technology (BIT) in Mesra, Ranchi, India.
Asset life assessment: A strategic reliability tool for the process industries
Asset life assessment (ALA) has become a strategic tool for process plants (e.g., petrochemical, chemical, and oil and gas) to determine the extent of degradation and the ability of assets to bear static and dynamic loads while sustaining the desired production processes.
