Installation of liquid sulfur degassing processes in existing SRUs
Over the last 35 yr, more companies worldwide have installed liquid sulfur degassing processes in their sulfur recovery units (SRUs) to minimize the dangers of the release of hydrogen sulfide from the produced elemental sulfur.
The Authors
Rien van Grinsven, P. Eng, is the Technical Specialist at Jacobs Comprimo Sulfur Solutions, which specializes in all aspects related to sulfur recovery plant design and operations. He has more than 35 yr of experience in sulfur technologies. He holds an MS degree in chemical engineering from the Technical University of Eindhoven in the Netherlands.
Marco van Son, P. Eng, is the Technical Manager of the Jacobs Comprimo Sulfur Solutions group in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, which specializes in all aspects of sulfur block design and operations. He has more than 20 yr of experience in the oil and gas industries, mostly in sulfur technologies. He holds an MS degree in chemical engineering from the Technical University of Eindhoven in the Netherlands, and an MS degree in refining, gas processing and engineering from the École Nationale Supérieure du Pétrole et des Moteurs in France.
