Extend unit life at ammonia-urea plants with debottlenecking and equipment replacement
Nagarjuna Fertilizers and Chemicals Ltd. (NFCL) operates a large, modern, integrated ammonia-urea complex with an annual capacity of 1.6 metric MMtpd of urea from natural gas feedstock. The facility is laid out in two units, located in Kakinada in India’s coastal state of Andhra Pradesh.
The Authors
K. R. R. Kumar is the General Manager of Projects at Nagarjuna Fertilizers and Chemicals Ltd. He holds a BTech degree in chemical engineering from Andhra University, and has more than 27 yr of experience in ammonia and urea plants, including the commissioning of five plants. He has published 11 articles on plant performance improvement, construction and commissioning.
G. V. S. Anand is the Senior General Manager of Operations at Nagarjuna Fertilizers and Chemicals Ltd. in Kakinada, India. He holds a BTech degree in chemical engineering from Osmania University and an ME degree in chemical engineering from the Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore. He has more than 30 yr of experience in all areas of operations, working with companies including IFFCO-Kalol, SIPCHEM and NFCL.
