The future of digital transformation and smart manufacturing
In today’s challenging oil and gas operations, it is vital to have a robust operating system that supports each facility’s goal of operational excellence (OE). Digital transformation and smart manufacturing are being implemented by Saudi Aramco as a coined umbrella term: integrated manufacturing operations management system (imoms).
The Authors
Yousif Abualsoud heads the Jazan refinery complex production operations management system project for Saudi Aramco. He is one of the original members of the integrated manufacturing operation management system (imoms) team that pioneered the development of integrated refinery operation management solutions for Saudi Aramco. His background includes process engineering, energy optimization and project management. He has been involved in several technology reviews, designs, implementations and operation of various manufacturing operations management systems.
Eyad A. Buhulaiga is a Senior Projects Manager heading the Jazan Refinery Complex imoms project team. He holds two titles from Stanford University: Stanford Certified Project Manager and Stanford Certified Professional in strategic decision and risk management. He recently completed an MIT management executive education program, co-authored an ISA-95 Best Practices Book 2.0, and was a contributing editor of ISA-95 Best Practices Book 3.0. He has published several technical papers related to the digital transformation and Industrial Revolution 4.0 at international forums, such as IEEE, ARC Industry Forum, AFPM (NPRA) ISA and MESA Intl.
