Flint Hills reports seal pump fire at Corpus refinery

Flint Hills Resources on Monday said an unspecified unit was shut in the East Plant section of its refinery in Corpus Christi, Texas.
The shut down process caused a flaring event at the 70,000-bpd East Plant, which was reported to local emergency planners.
There were no injuries associated with the event, nor was there a call for the community to take action. The seal pump fire was extinguished quickly, company spokeswoman Katie Stavinoha said.
The Corpus Christi refinery's total East and West Plant throughput capacity is 300,000 bpd.
Independent refining company Flint Hills Resources is a wholly owned subsidiary of Koch Industries.
