PETRONAS Selects LyondellBasell technology for Malaysia project
ROTTERDAM, Netherlands – LyondellBasell announced PRPC Polymers Sdn Bhd, a wholly owned subsidiary of PETRONAS Chemicals Group Berhad (PCG), has selected the LyondellBasell Hostalen “Advanced Cascade Process” technology.
The polyethylene process technology will be used for a 400 KTA high density polyethylene (HDPE) unit to be constructed in their Refinery and Petrochemical Integrated Development (RAPID) complex in Pengerang, Johor, Malaysia.
“We selected the Hostalen ACP process technology for its exceptional ability to produce high-performance film and pipe products that allows us to meet the growing demand for specialty petrochemical products in the region,” said Datuk Nur Iskandar A. Samad, Project Director (Petrochemical) for project RAPID at PRPC Polymers.
PETRONAS already licensed the two LyondellBasell polypropylene (PP) process technologies Spherizone and Spheripol for the RAPID complex in Malaysia.
