Azerbaijan's oil company SOCAR has resumed operations at an oil refinery in Baku after a 40-day shutdown caused by maintenance works after a fire. The refinery, with a processing capacity of 6.5 MMtpy, is Azerbaijan's only facility producing refined petroleum products.
In March, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that the fire at the refinery, located in Baku's Nizami district, had been fully extinguished.
During the repair period, SOCAR imported 40,000 metric tons of AI-92 gasoline to meet domestic demand, the source said.
The refinery produces gasoline, jet fuel, diesel, petroleum, fuel oil and other products, covering most of the country's domestic fuel needs.
