Repairs were continuing on Tuesday to a diesel-producing hydrocracker at Marathon Petroleum's 631,000-bpd Galveston Bay Refinery in Texas City, Texas, said people familiar with plant operations.
The 60,000-bpd hydrocracker, called the Ultracracker, was originally set to restart during the past weekend, but the restart was moved to Friday because repairs were not complete, the sources said.
Marathon spokesperson Jamal Kheiry declined in an email on Tuesday to discuss operations at the Galveston Bay Refinery, which is the second largest by capacity in the United States.
The Ultracracker uses hydrogen in the presence of a catalyst under high heat and pressure to produce diesel from gasoil.
