Top Dividing Wall Column Technology – a Novel Approach
10 April 2019

The two most important criteria driving the selection of dividing wall columns (DWCs) over a conventional two-column system are energy savings and lower capital cost, while delivering the same product quality as the two-column system. Other benefits include smaller plot area and shorter payback periods. The energy saving benefits are even more pronounced in regions where utility costs are significantly high, like India and Southeast Asia, or in plants where existing utility systems like steam and cooling water are already running close to peak capacity, resulting in little margin for new users.

Process Plant Design: The High Cost of Slow Decisions
5 April 2019

Risk analysis is generally performed in the later stages of design to prove that the plant will deliver what it’s supposed to. However, some clever practitioners are now employing it much earlier to speed up decision-making and lock in superior design choices when they really matter -  at the beginning of the project. In this paper, learn how Aspen Fidelis Reliability uses a systems approach that allows you to quantify the true value or cost of different design decisions, planned maintenance intervals, or supply chain constraints.

Canada Comes Late to LNG, Projects and Prospects Mixed
14 February 2019

Increased gas supply from shale and tight gas has decreased US demand for imports, resulting in Canadian plans for two dozen LNG export terminal projects to replace gas sales to USA. Unfortunately, the region has seen very little capacity built to date.

Download this whitepaper to learn more about the present state of the LNG sector in Canada; which projects are under development/in process/planned; the likelihood of completion of any of these projects; and what is the outlook for the future?

Making Capital Project Management Decisions: Minimize Risk, Maximize Profitability
11 February 2019

When it comes to plant design and reliability, making the best decisions shouldn't be left to subjective perceptions or over-simplified analysis. Decision-makers need quantifiable, trustworthy answers to increase profits and minimize risk. Designing a facility the correct way the first time can save millions in design corrections, debottlenecking or overspending on capital. In this paper, learn how to use robust RAM analysis to handle the real-world challenges of today's process industries--and help you make the best decisions.

Best Practices for Going Beyond
8 February 2019

Refineries face challenging economic conditions and shifting market demands which requires operations to run differently to remain profitable and competitive. Units are being pushed to their operating boundaries – and sometimes beyond – which may lead to increased risks and hazards, unplanned shutdowns and economic losses.

This paper examines three case studies that showcase the benefits of expert help in troubleshooting a reactor effluent air cooler (REAC) leak, increased filter replacement, and a stripper column overhead corrosion issue. From reducing unplanned shutdowns to improving operations, expert advice and focused attention helped these refiners with increased profitability.

Get Fast D4294 Sulfur Results Without Centrifuging
1 February 2019

For XRF, a common matrix effect interference involves particulates settling to the bottom of the sample cup. This matrix effect will ultimately influence the total sulfur measurement and lead to a bias result. Download our whitepaper to learn how you can ensure accurate 4294 sulfur results without centrifuging.
