In the modern blending plant, spectrometric analysis is no longer a matter of just measuring common lubricating oil ingredients and contaminants. Magnesium (Mg), phosphorus (P), calcium (Ca), and sulfur (S) aren't enough. As formulations grow more complex and additive packages proliferate, you may need precise analysis of elements from tungsten (W) to cobalt (Co) to bismuth (Bi) — as many as 27 in total. Can your existing instrument handle all these? If not, consider advanced new ED-XRF models such as the SPECTRO XEPOS analyzer. It can measure them all, using only a single analytical method! And it delivers everything else your lab requires, from precision and throughput to lower costs and greater ease of use.

Protecting infrastructure through routine maintenance continues to be an increasingly expensive challenge for asset owners, which can influence them to look for alternative repair or design solutions when current standard practices lack effectiveness. There are multiple construction materials available for applications, but each material has advantages and disadvantages. Learn what material would work best for your upcoming repair by reading our white paper.

Biodiesels are known to have a higher oxygen concentration than traditional diesels. This can cause XRF analyzers to report lower sulfur and chlorine concentrations due to absorption of the XRF signal by the oxygen. The simple use of a correction factor or matrix matching is recommended to correct this bias.

There's a steep price to pay for unplanned maintenance. But what if your inspections predicted or detected corrosion and other costly risks that force downtime, require replacement parts or necessitate expensive experts to be brought in for support? In this whitepaper, Frost & Sullivan examines the impact digital and technological shifts are having on the NDT market and how more facilities are moving toward a new strategy called digital inspection.

ASTM Proficiency Testing Programs (PTP) are statistical quality assurance programs that enable laboratories to evaluate and improve performance. ASTM conducted a PTP between 2015 and 2017, and collected data from various labs testing sulfur in RFG and ULSD samples using common test methods for low sulfur automotive fuels: D2622, D7039, and D5453.

NORM scale is often present in processing equipment at petrochemical refineries. Traditional methods such as high-pressure water jetting is time and personnel intensive, and often not capable of reaching areas within the equipment. Our white paper focuses on dealing with the safety issues associated with NORM, current industry practices for removal, our targeted chemical approach with FQE NORM-Clear, and in-depth case history on how we decontaminated a depropanizer.

Find out how GT-BTX PluS® technology helps produce low-sulfur gasoline from catalytically cracked naphtha without a significant loss in octane value. The extractive distillation technology segregates olefins from sulfur and aromatics, which can be directly blended in gasoline, thus eliminating the octane loss of traditional, selective HDS units. GT-BTX PluS® is a variation of GT-BTX®, a proven extractive distillation technology that simultaneously removes benzene, toluene, xylenes and thiophenic sulfur species from aromatic-containing cracked naphtha. Alternatively, the segregated aromatics can be sent for paraxylene production without the need to go through a naphtha reformer.
