Praxair to supply oxygen for Uruguay pulp mill
Praxair has signed a 15-year contract to supply oxygen to a new pulp mill complex being built in Punta Pereira, in the department of Colonia, Uruguay. Praxair will build, own and operate a non-cryogenic vacuum-pressure-swing-adsorption (VPSA) plant with a capacity of 126 tpd of gaseous oxygen.
Japan, Russia agree to boost ties, eye LNG project
Japan and Russia signed a memorandum of understanding Saturday aimed at boosting economic relations between the two countries in broad areas including energy, high technology and health care. The two ministers also agreed to work together in a project to build a liquefied natural gas plant in Vladivostok, Russian Far East, for natural gas produced in the island of Sakhalin.
Russia joining World Trade Organization will create export opportunities – Dow CEO

Libya oil output resuming far faster than expected
Oil production in Libya is resuming far faster than initially expected and is on track to reach 0.7 million bpd, almost half its pre-war level, by the end of this year, said the International Energy Agency Thursday. Shortly after the IEA upgraded its forecasts, Libyan oil officials said another of the country's largest fields could restart within a week.
Statoil extends Technip contract for pipeline repair services in Norway
Statoil awarded Technip with a two-year extension of its pipeline repair system (PRS) services frame contract until December 1, 2014. This contract covers maintenance and operation of Statoil’s PRS Pool located at Killingøy in Haugesund, Norway.
Jacobs to engineer, manage European projects for Shell downstream distribution
Jacobs Engineering Group has received a contract from Shell Downstream Distribution to provide project management and engineering services for Shell's European program. The three-year framework agreement has an optional two-year extension.

Nabucco pipeline decision could boost Germany's gas supplies
Germany's decision to phase out its nuclear power in light of the Fukushima nuclear disaster in Japan has boosted interest in the planned Nabucco gas pipeline, which would transport gas 4,000 km between Turkey and Austria. However, a final decision on the Nabucco project will not be made until the end of next year.
Refining group names Albemarle top biodiesel firm
US-based specialty chemicals producer Albemarle was named biodiesel corporation of the year by the World Refining Association during the Biofuels 2011 annual meeting in Amsterdam. The award, which was presented to representatives from Albemarle's alternative fuel technologies (AFT) division, recognizes industry leaders that have made substantial contributions in the field of renewable fuels.
BASF, Cargill team up on canola oil development
Cargill and BASF Plant Science announced an agreement to co-develop a new dietary source of EPA/DHA that will make it easier for consumers globally to achieve optimal intakes of EPA- and DHA-rich omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids. This next generation canola oil containing EPA/DHA will enable food, pharmaceutical and nutritional supplement manufacturers to deliver the potential health benefits of omega-3 fatty acids in a variety of new, cost-effective consumer products available by the end of the decade.
