Kinder Morgan to buy out KKR in US natural gas JV
Natural gas pipeline operator Kinder Morgan Energy Partners L said it is taking full ownership of a natural gas joint venture by buying the 50% interest it doesn't already own from KKR & Co. for $300 million in KMP shares. The deal is expected to close by the end of May.
Air Products opens west China engineering office
Air Products opened a new office in the Xi'an High Tech Zone of China’s Shaanxi province, part a company strategy to accelerate growth in the region. The new facility - to be built as an engineering office - will provide additional resources to support the company's increasing number of projects in China.
Sierra Club seeks to block Dominion LNG export project in Maryland
The environmental group Sierra Club is threatening to derail Dominion's plans for a natural gas export facility in Cove Point, Md., saying it struck an agreement with the company years ago that precludes the construction. Dominion CEO Tom Farrell said the company remains confident it will build the facility.
Air Products to supply LNG heat exchangers for Ichthys project in Australia
Air Products has signed an agreement with JKC and INPEX, under which it will supply liquefaction technology and main cryogenic heat exchangers for two process trains to produce 8.4 million tpy of LNG. The LNG units will process natural gas from reserves located in the Browse Basin offshore Western Australia.
CNPC to supply natural gas feedstock to Chongqing petrochemical project
CNPC has signed an agreement with the Chongqing government to supply natural gas to be used as feedstock at petrochemical project in the southwest China municipality. The deal was announced during a meeting between CNPC Chairman Jiang Jiemin and Chongqing's new party leader, Zhang Dejiang.
Praxair lands gas supply deal for Mexico steel plant
Praxair has signed a new contract with Deacero, a leading Mexican steel company, to supply oxygen, argon and nitrogen to a new plant being built in Ramos Arizpe, Coahuila, a major industrial region in north Mexico. The facilities are expected to start up in the first quarter of 2014.
Shell awards engineering pact to Kvaerner for gas processing plant in Norway
Shell has awarded Kvaerner with an EPCm deal for modifications and projects at its Ormen Lange/Nyhamna onshore facilities on the west coast of Norway. The Nyhamna gas plant processes natural gas from the Ormen Lange gas field located in the Møre Basin in the southern part of the Norwegian Sea.
Ford looks to expand natural gas powered autos, may clash with US chems
The head of Ford says the auto industry is focused on expanding the use of engines powered by compressed natural gas, creating a potential clash with the US chemical sector. Any major use of compressed natural gas in passenger cars could wipe out the cost advantage enjoyed by US chemical firms.
EPA delays new US 'fracking' rules until 2015
Wells where natural gas is captured through the controversial "fracking" technique will have until 2015 to comply with new rules designed to reduce air pollution. The EPA said it is phasing in the rules for "fracked" natural gas wells to "ensure emissions reduction technology is broadly available."
Siemens, Shell seal gas chromatography pact
Under the agreement, Siemens will supply gas chromatographs along with related systems such as analysis cabinets and shelters to numerous Shell global energy projects.
