HP Construction: Inauguration of the Ras Laffan Olefins Co. (RLOC) Cracker, Qatar
A joint venture between Qapco1 (63.63%), Total Petrochemicals France (36.36%) and QP (Qatar Petroleum)2 (0.01%) was established in June 2002 to implement the Qatofin project. This project includes participation in one of the world’s largest ethane crackers in Ras Laffan, a linear-low-density polyethylene (LLDPE) plant in Mesaiseed and the related ethylene pipeline linking both sites.
Chevron Phillips Chemical considers a US Gulf Coast ethane cracker
Chevron Phillips Chemical is advancing a feasibility study to construct a world-scale ethane cracker and ethylene derivatives at one of its existing facilities in the US Gulf Coast region. The new facility would utilize the advantaged feed sources expected from development of shale gas reserves.
Shell sells Stanlow refinery to Essar Oil (UK)
Shell has signed a sales and purchase agreement for its 270,000 bpd Stanlow refinery in the UK and certain associated local marketing businesses with Essar Oil (UK) Ltd. for a total expected consideration of some $1.3 billion. Today’s announcement follows a formal offer Essar made for Stanlow in mid-February.

ExxonMobil opens Shiogama terminal in area affected by earthquake, tsunami
ExxonMobil Japan Group has reopened its Shiogama terminal, enabling delivery of increased fuel supplies into the Tohoku area of Northeast Japan, which was affected by the March 11 earthquake and tsunami.
Tesoro announces North Dakota expansion
Tesoro Corporation plans to expand the crude oil throughput capacity at its Mandan, North Dakota, refinery from 58,000 bpd to 68,000 bpd by the second quarter of 2012, subject to permitting requirements.
Shaw issues statement on events in Japan

Update on dire refining situation in Japan
The 8.9 magnitude earthquake that struck Japan on March 11th has caused considerable interruption to oil refinery operations in the country. Hydrocarbon Processing’s Boxscore Database has complied data indicating that with a total of 28 oil refineries, Japan is the second largest refining country after China in the Asia-Pacific region.
Jacobs receives contract from Jubail Chemical Industrial Co. in Saudi Arabia
Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. has received an award from the Jubail Chemical Industrial Company Ltd. (JANA) to provide technical and project management services for its existing epichlorohydrin plant expansion and a new epichlorohydrin plant at the Jubail, Saudi Arabia site. JANA is a wholly owned subsidiary of NAMA Chemicals (NAMA).
Foster Wheeler and consortium partners sign GES+ contract with Saudi Aramco
Foster Wheeler AG announced that a subsidiary of its Global Engineering and Construction Group together with the subsidiary’s consortium partners comprising A. Al-Saihati, A. Fattani & O. Al-Othman Consulting Engineering Co., (SOFCON) and Saudi Consolidated Engineering Company- Khatib & Alami (SCEC K&A) have signed a contract with Saudi Aramco for the provision of services associated with Saudi Aramco’s General Engineering Services Plus (GES+) initiative for a duration of five years with options available for extensions.
