UOP technology chosen for diesel, lube production at Pakistan refinery expansion
Honeywell’s UOP says that its new process technology designed to help refiners get more product from each crude barrel has been selected by National Refinery Limited (NRL) to maximize diesel and lubricant production in Pakistan. The facility will produce 40,000 bpd of diesel fuel and 4,500 bpd of lube base oils.

US fuel demand tanks amid low gasoline use - API
US petroleum deliveries in December 2011 were down 5.9% from December 2010, declining to an average of 18.6 million bpd to hit their lowest December level in 15 years. Overall, total petroleum deliveries (a measure of demand) fell 1.2% in 2011 to an average of 18.9 million bpd.
Sunoco completes spinoff of SunCoke Energy unit
US-based transportation fuels firm Sunoco completed the spinoff of its metallurgical coke manufacturing business SunCoke Energy. The planned separation was first announced in January 2011.
Samsung lands EPC contract for clean diesel unit at Qatar refinery
South Korea's Samsung Engineering has been awarded an engineering, procurement and construction contract for a clean diesel-producing unit at the Qatargas-operated Laffan refinery, as the Gulf state looks to increase refined product exports. Haldor Topsøe has won the contract for a diesel hydrotreating unit for the Russian Syzran Refinery owned by Rosneft, the largest Russian oil company. The contract is a continuation of Topsøe’s and Rosneft’s collaboration, the companies said.
