KBR lands construction deal to expand Canadian gas processing plant
KBR will execute construction and related site support for the expansion of the Dawson Creek facility, increasing the existing capacity to 100 million standard cubic feet/day. The award follows KBR’s recent work for delivering pipe-rack fabrication and module assembly for phase one of the expansion.
Chemtex awarded loan guarantee from US to build cellulosic ethanol refinery
Once operational, the facility is expected to convert 600,000 tpy of energy grasses into an estimated 20 million gallons of cellulosic ethanol using a proprietary enzymatic hydrolysis process. The plant will produce biofuels for eastern transportation markets using non-food biomass feedstocks.
CB&I wins work on BASF Belgium butadiene project
This award, valued in excess of $50 million, builds on CB&I’s existing relationship with BASF as licensor of its butadiene technology, according to the companies. The plant is scheduled to start up during 2014.
Methanex awards plant engineering deal to Jacobs for Chile-to-US relocation
Jacobs is already executing site-specific engineering and construction management for the 225-acre location in Geismar, La. from its offices in Baton Rouge, with support for the disassembly from its office in Santiago, Chile. The plant is expected to be operational the second half of 2014.
Shell picks Jacobs as European downstream services provider
Under a five-year deal, Jacobs will perform work ranging from feasibility studies and small plant modifications to discrete projects for major Shell refining and chemical sites.
Intergraph extends engineering software alliance with Siemens Energy
The agreement was first signed in 2005. Siemens primarily uses Intergraph’s integrated software tools within the energy sector, it said, with benefits including centralized data storage, automation, enhanced data management and data integrity, and reduced project hours.
Jacobs wins South Africa sulfuric acid plant work
Under the terms of the deal, Jacobs is designing the equipment and process for two final acid towers. The company is also designing and fabricating a proprietary anodically-protected sulfuric acid cooler, which will be manufactured at Jacobs' facility in Pickering, Ontario. Financial terms were not disclosed.
UOP technology chosen to boost yields at Romania synthetic rubber plant
Energy Bio-Chemicals will use UOP’s KLP process to purify butadiene, a monomer used to produce synthetic rubber, at the company's CAROM Onesti styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) facility. The project is part of a modernization investment program to upgrade butadiene installation and increase production.
Modernize your compressor lube- and seal-oil systems
Each pipe or control line should be traced to its origin, the design intent must be well understood, and all owner-purchaser questions answered by the vendor-manufacturer.
Utility piping: Why over-engineering is inefficient
Grooved mechanical piping can offer improved constructability, speedy expansion, retrofit and turnaround, and also reduce safety risks. It is a quality pipe-joining method.
