Cabot wins sustainability award at Illinois complex
Cabot Corp. has been named a 2011 sustainability award winner 2011 by the Illinois governor’s office for outstanding performance at its Tuscola, Ill., fumed metal oxides facility. Cabot Tuscola earned the recognition for significant accomplishments in recycling, reduced water and electricity usage, and packaging efficiency, the company said.

Yara to buy environment technology firm Petro Miljö
Global fertilizer major Yara International has agreed to acquire Petro Miljö AB, a fully-owned subsidiary of Petrokraft, for an undisclosed amount. Petro Miljö is a leader in selective non-catalytic reduction (SNCR), a technology that can reduce nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions, from industrial plants by up to 90%.
Anadarko pays $4bn to BP to settle Gulf spill claims
BP said on Monday that it had reached agreement with Anadarko Petroleum on a $4 billion deal to settle all claims between the companies related to the Deepwater Horizon accident and resulting Gulf of Mexico oil spill in 2010.

Foster Wheeler wins top British safety award
Global engineering and construction major Foster Wheeler has won the Five Star Health and Safety Management System Audit Award from the British Safety Council for the performance of the company’s UK-headquartered operation in Reading. The award follows a Five Star audit, in which the British Safety Council reviewed the health and safety performance of FWEL’s Reading home office operation, the company said.
