Optimize steam usage in refinery flares
In this study, methods to optimize the consumption of dispersion steam in flares were examined at a large refinery that burns a considerable quantity of gas. The desired optimization was achieved by monitoring hydrocarbon emissions using an infrared camera (thermography).
Get more from your next turnaround
Turnarounds in continuous operating process plants, such as refineries and petrochemical processing plants, are complicated and costly events where each day of downtime equals lost revenue.
Pentair Valves & Controls facilitates total cost of ownership improvements
Pentair is working with major chemical and petrochemical companies around the world to promote and implement standardization programs and processes with the goal of increasing efficiency and reducing total cost of ownership in areas such as procurement, installation, and maintenance of valves and controls equipment, and inventory control processes across multiple plant sites.
Linde achieves development milestone for next generation gas cylinder capabilities
The EVOS DCi valve is among a number of digital concept solutions that Linde is developing in order to demonstrate leading edge digital technologies for the packaged gases sector.
Emerson to acquire valves & control business from Pentair
Emerson has signed an agreement to purchase the valves & controls business of Pentair for $3.15 B.
Codes and Standards: Explore alternative engineering options for code requirements
This article is the second under the “Codes and Standards” series.
Innovations
Unintended fugitive emissions from pressurized plant components have long been a key concern for operators as well as regulators.
Design a pressure safety valve at the centrifugal pump discharge
In most process plants, it is unusual to install a pressure safety valve (PSV) to centrifugal pump and compressor discharge, but some PSVs are needed and are installed to protect the system against miscellaneous scenarios that could create overpressure in the system.
HP Innovations
The FM-approved FireChek thermal shutoff valve with resettable memory shape alloy can now be used to automatically shut down a pneumatic control system when a nearby fire occurs, or when the ambient temperature reaches 135°F, 150°F or 165°F.
Maintaining gas system accuracy and reliability through calibration
In the process industries, laser-based analytical techniques have emerged as a popular method of examining process line samples because of their high level of durability, fast response time and minimal maintenance requirements.
