Corn-ethanol not seen as threat to Brazil's cane-ethanol producers
Corn-based ethanol production in Brazil has more than tripled since the turn of the decade while cane-based ethanol output has flattened. Brazil's cane mills can produce either sugar or ethanol from cane.

Bio-based products derive from biological resources on land and in the sea. Bio-based chemicals, for example, can be made from algae that are used to produce pharmaceuticals, personal care products and industrial applications. Bio-based plastics are used in packaging and automotive parts. And bio-based construction productions, textile fibers and fertilizers are increasingly in demand.
