Business Trends: Africa—Will increasing demand spark downstream capacity builds?
Over the past decade, Africa’s oil demand has increased by more than 1 MMbpd, to nearly 3.9 MMbpd. Africa’s oil production is more than double the amount it consumes, but lack of investment, failing infrastructure and inadequate refining capacity force the continent to rely on imports to satisfy increasing fuel demand.
Alternatives to flare gas recovery for sour refinery flare gas
For many sour gas streams present in a flare header, less expensive options than flare gas recovery may exist. The compressors, liquids management, downstream treating and other systems required for flare gas recovery (FGR) can be expensive to install and/or operate reliably. Some refineries allow the flaring of sweet gases.

Indian refiners process 1.5% less oil in January
(Reuters) -- Indian refiners processed 21.11 MMt, or 4.99 MMbpd, of crude oil in January, a decline of around 1.5% compared with the same period last year, as many state refiners shut units for maintenance, preliminary government data showed on Wednesday.
Industry Metrics
European refinery margins weakened due to slower gasoline export opportunities, despite the colder weather.
Mitigate CO2 emissions from industrial plants by conversion to fuels
An economical commercial process is necessary to provide an incentive for the utility industries to engender win-win support for government regulations on carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.
EIA: US set to become energy exporter by 2026
NEW YORK (Reuters) -- The United States is projected to become a net energy exporter over the next decade due to rising natural gas exports and falling petroleum product imports, the US Energy Information Administration said on Thursday.
